Weirdest thing I've found so far

#1 Post by Lilly Begonia » Sat Feb 24, 2018 12:01 pm

I came upon this strange rock-like organism moving around on some algae apparently feeding. I've never seen anything like it. It does not seem to have cilia, but it does have two faint appendages at one end. Found it in the pond water. Very different...

When it moved out into the water away from the algae I could see it had several of those faint appendages, it was hard to get them into focus, and it was moving all the time so I couldn't take shots to stack:

Well I never would have guessed that as any sort of amoeba, but thank you for identifying it. Now I have to find out more about it. Time to go digging...
