Another Diatom from the same sea sample

#1 Post by 75RR » Wed Mar 14, 2018 8:56 pm

Plan 40x/0.65, 20µm width, DIC, 4 image stacks in Photoshop
Cleaned up the background a bit on both as it was a little distracting.

Very nice image. The more I see of these salt water diatoms, the more I want to go collect some :D

Beautiful! Makes me want to try again to visit the salt spring I tried to get to a few years ago.

I have been looking at all the posts of freshwater
diatoms, wondering what lurks in the saltwater.

Many thanks Timemaster1212, JimT, Crater Eddie and Nance.

This is my first time collecting from sea water, had only previously collected (once) from a brackish lagoon.
That turned out to have some nice samples. I also went for a clump of algae back then, seems the most promising area.

Crater Eddie: That Salt Spring sounds interesting, looking forward to your catch!
