Two views of the same Diatom

#1 Post by 75RR » Sun Mar 18, 2018 11:54 am

These are two views of the same diatom.
The first one has just the first 4 images of the sequence while the second image has the complete sequence of images for a total of 11.

Plan 40x/0.65, DIC, stacked in Photoshop.

This was taken yesterday - last dip in the old sample (sea water does not keep well). Threw it away today and got a new sample. Looking forward to sampling it!

Big difference in the second image and worth the extra effort. Very nice.

Thanks for your comment JimT.
I was trying to show how much the final image can vary when selecting a given sequence of images.
Perhaps I should have added another sequence (and made it 3) to highlight the point.

Yes please, that would be interesting ... Presumably you could get the external detail to dominate, by leaving the internals in soft-focus.
