Stacks of Pollen

#1 Post by mrsonchus » Sat Feb 21, 2015 10:06 pm

Hi all, crocuses are up in the garden so I had a go at a very quick stack:
Not too bad, could be a lot better through.

Tomorrow I'm going to try a 'proper' stack - see if I can improve on this a bit...
This is a pollen grain with it's pollen-tube entering the top of the stigma.
Dirty speckles are on the Meiji eyepiece - it's going back for a replacement!

Apologies for the dirty-speckles, they're on my new Meiji eyepiece - it's going straight back
for replacement on Monday morning. You don't expect a brand-new lens to look like this! Yuk.

I can't imagine how anything can be a lot better! Just beautiful pictures: color, sharpness, clarity, everything. The dust spots are unfortunate, and I agree a new lens should not have dust in or on it. I hope you get it replaced soon. Would you tell us what power objectives you used, please?

Echo everything gecko said about the obj. powers and the lens spots. Are you sure they are on the eyepiece or might it be focusing somewhere else in the focal plane? Have you rotated the eyepiece to ensure that is where the spots are? I especially like the bright yellows of the first image.

Really striking image.

If you think you can improve it, I will look forward to seeing, as this is excellent.

Nice work.

Excellent images, can you tell me which software do you use for stacking?.
PS.: In the American forum "Photomacrocraphy" Charles Krebs posted similar images...
