Just a quickie of an interesting part of one of my onion slides....
The cut-edge of the piece of epidermis (cut for size etc) at the top seems to show the cells as 3D 'boxes', which I suppose they are. I've never seen this view before and it has given me a new insight into viewing the '2D' images of a 'scope or photo'. My brain now sees the 'flat' ribbon-like cell-walls as the 3D sides of the onion cell's contents.
Just thought someone may find it an interesting perspective. I may try some more similar angled cuts just to see what appears.

Yes very nice. Often when viewing subjects we lose sight of the fact they are 3 D. This includes the protozoans etc. That is the benefit of the various filters and lighting techniques.
