Marine Oligochaeta (Video)

Found this worm trapped in an alga - though I would take advantage of that and try out several illumination techniques.
During the time it took to video it the worm turned around and then turned around again.
I added a couple of drops of water at the end and released it. Was hoping to capture its escape but did not manage it.

Well done 77, a nicely composed portrayal of a specimen's activity under different contrasts.
I thought the DF showed the best detail.

I bought some of those cheap black half-moons and dicks to drop into my condenser filter holder but after an hour of experimentation walked away in disgust as I couldn't get a decent DF image. I'll get them out again and try some more with different settings.

Neither have I. I cut all circles (DIY Rheinberg) and experimented, placing them in the swing-out filter tray beneath the condenser. All failed. then forum member MicroBob explained that not all condensers and filter holders work alike in this respect, so the trick is not fool-proof.
Then, I tried placing an opaque black paper circle in one of the empty ports of the Zeiss phase contrast condenser. The circle is then as close to the iris aperture horizontal plane as can be. In fact, it is within that plane!. Now I can get some darkfield with it, with the 10x and 16x objectives. It is more or less the same as DF I get with the phase ring, PH3, as recommended by Zeiss. The minus point was that I cannot center the (hand-cut) circle within the condenser port.
