Man-faced beetle pano using microscope
Man-faced beetle pano using microscope
Found this nice beetle on ebay - has missing parts (leg, antenna) sometimes I get 'A2' or 'A3' condition specimens cheaply for practicing photography.

thanks guys
just trying a link to a larger image via extrazoom - even 8000 pixels wide its only part of it's size - the full image is just over a gig
http://extrazoom.com/image-100082.html?s=huln50x50
no idea how to use the embed options so its just a link
thanks for looking

Astonishing at that resolution

Too many 'projects'
Re: Man-faced beetle pano using microscope
hehe cheers - it was a little bit too ambitious for my skill level to try a panorama that size and detail - so many mistakes and glitches to be zooming in like that, but i did learn a few things and hopefully next time can compromise with a smaller project, but one that's done better.
That Extrazoom site is great though, especially for free - good place for detailed panoramas of this sort.

Beautiful. Did you do any post processing or is the pic basically a raw image?
Re: Man-faced beetle pano using microscope
Yeah, i did some clean-up in post-processing - there were some missing areas of the pano, as well as a lot of dust on the sensor - also the background was uneven from using auto white balance and some issues with lightingcoominya wrote:Beautiful. So yeah, i had a few troubles - nearly abandoned the project halfway when i lost my place in the mosaic - so i decided to keep things simple until i get the hang of it more

Skillful work, Aenima. You should be proud! I, too, am guilty of ebay insect scavenging! Well worth it! The detail in the hairs on the hind tarsus is very nice.
p.s. I am now following you on flickr... do you have 2 flickr accounts?

Nice photo!
I think it is a Heteroptera / "true bug" (not a beetle) though.

Thanks guys - much appreciated. pretty impressed with that 'ExtraZoom' site.
Thanks zzffnn for the ID
SunshineLW yeah, i 'should' have an account for my Astro work, and an account for my Micro pics - but, somehow i've got confused and created two accounts recently for micro stuff, one of which is redundant, so i will link the two main accounts here - a long running astro flickr page and a newer micro page - hopefully it'll be clearer what's what.. ;P
