A rather nice Xmas present from my sister was some pond water from where she lives ... found some Peritrich on a Mosquito Larva
As there were rather a lot of Ostracods in the sample jar and assuming I would inevitably end up with some up in the sample, I placed the cover slip on top of two others, forming a bridge. I feel guilty when I squish them.
While this was successful in sparing the ostracods, it did leave the Peritrich too far from the underside of the cover slip for good images with the 40x.
Though the size and height of the mosquito larva was not going to help much anyway.
