Some Pond Life In Southern Central British Columbia (Kootenay Area)

A drop of pond water in a well slide and waiting for some water to evaporate the critters easier to see and find.

That is a nice catch! Have you tried experimenting with Oblique? It is the sort of image that would greatly benefit from it.

Thank you I was up most of the night finding distinct critters. Look like I also found a leech or two. I am new to microscopy and have a very limited vocabulary. Is Oblique the same as phase contrast? Does it require another gadget? I have phase contrast but images do not seem to appear as sharp -- boarders seem fuzzier.

Not a water mite rather an immature copepod referred to as a nauplius.

I have a fresh Hay infusion I started back in November. It is teeming with life! I will post some videos shortly. You can see plenty of Copepods, nematodes etc
