Seagrass under microscope

#1 Post by Alpros » Wed Jul 31, 2019 9:22 am

Hey guys,

I stained some Zostera marina and Z. noltii plant for my MSc project. I found some stuff that I cannot identify. Anybody as an idea what I'm looking at?

Thank you in advance :)

These two quite small structures were just free and within the water that the eelgrasses were immersed in , correct? Or were they attached in some way?

They were probably attached on the surface since I rinsed the plants before staining. I stained with trypan blue so it should be an oomycete or a fungi structure. But in literature, I couldn't find anything similar.

It looks like "Merismopedia sp." on the first picture.
on second picture probably Coleochaete sp.
