Planapo 63x/1.4, DIC, stacked in Photoshop, seasonal river waterhole, Southern Spain

I think there's a lesson here for all of us 75. It seems that with only one microscope, and only one objective, and one or two sampling locations, it's possible to keep turning out remarkable images! I appreciate it's not quite as simple as that of course, but it does cause one to pause and think a bit

Here is another rotifer from it. This time a Brachionus

It was surrounded by moving euglenas, not sure if they were attracted by the light, the prospect of a meal or both.

+ one of the suspects. This is a good example of why I should finish the flash project.

It is the software DENOISE PROJECTS. It is reducing the noise but also many other kind of automized corrections.

75RR is the wizard of the Zeiss 63x/1.4 Planapo for sure. If I ever get back in my lab I may be hitting him up for advice - mine gives me fits!

That's a really nice side view of Colurella. Excellent detail.

I bet you could get nice and differing images from that one waterhole location indefinitely.

I shall be putting a little more effort into reducing noise both during the shoot and after.

do not get me wrong - I like your photos very much and I do not really care about some noise in the photos.
But if you want to remove I thought it may be a good tip. Actually I do not use Photoshop anymore since I tried the DENOISE software. It allows a kind of automatisation, so several steps like constrast, noise reduction or sharpening in a sequence. So its quite convenient. It offers a 4 week trial period to have a first try.

I won't be getting the software however but rather looking to camera settings and lighting to reduce noise and additional Photoshop buttons to smooth the background a some more.

Hi 75', I find that using the 100W halogen lamp is my best bet at reducing noise. It provides about enough light to shoot well lit photos at ISO 100 and 1/80 shutter speed (around this speed vibrations don't cause much issues). If I remember correctly you were missing a piece of the 100W lamp house and you didn't want to burn your 60W (I also try to be economical with the voltage when using the 60W bulb).

Indeed. I think by now I should admit to myself that I am unlikely to source a focusing lens at a fair price for the 100W halogen. Seems a shame, as the rest of it is fine.

It is a rather fat and heavy Planapochromat 63x/1.4 Oel

Weighed it on the kitchen scales = 130gr
