Jumpy jumpy

#1 Post by jason » Sun Feb 09, 2020 9:48 pm

This spidery critter was extremely difficult to capture in focus. I had my 8 y.o. son tracking it by moving the stage and looking through one eyepiece while I simultaneously was adjusting the focus while looking at the cellphone camera attached to the other eyepiece. It moves so quickly!

No idea what it is but I'm sure some of the great folks here will chime in. It's from a Mississippi river water sample I've had for about a month now. I believe I'm on the 10x objective here (20x eyepiece).

I think it is a "juvenile" copepod :

yes, they are really fast and never stay in one place long enough for us.
Really nice to have your little son helping with these activities. He'll have something to tell his friends too :)
