Thanks! Actually I had 2 in one drop of water. Pretty cool looking animals. I'm waiting for my copy of Das Leben im Wassertropfen so I can try to identify the little buggers for myself :)

Does one need to join something to view the photo ? The link does not take me to the photo.

I don't think you need to join. It's a video not a photo so maybe you don't have the right player installed? Anyone else not able to see the video?

Great bear encounter, thanks 'WhyMe'. Your video works for me, and a wonderful water bear resource 75RR gave us with his link! My recent bear encounters last week from frozen outdoor waters...same dark brown compacted mass in my bears gut...were your bears winter/outdoor collected, WhyMe? Charlie Guevara, fingerlakes/US

Yes, they were taken in the winter from my favorite pond. But this pond wasn't iced over at the time, so getting a sample was easy. It's frozen solid now.

Only, only if you feel it safe to do...get down to your water site...crack the ice with a shovel, a hammer, your boot...and collect a few samples from under the ice. Marvelous winter aquatic microscopy is out there. Charlie guevara
