Rotifers - Brachionus manjavacas and Philodina roseola

Dr. Terry Snell a rotifer biologist in the US sent me some Brachionus manjavacas and Philodina roseola species of rotifers to take photos of for social media. He provides rotifers for aquaculture and for toxicology testing. I used a variety of microscopy techniques, Bright field, DIC, Phase contrast, Darkfield, Polarizing and Fluorescence. . I stained the living animals with Acridine orange for 20 minutes and used blue light excitation for the fluorescence photomicrographs. I will post an article about these rotifers on my web site in a few weeks with more details for those that might be interested. Mainly used 10, 20 and 40X objectives. Images captured with with Nikno DSLRs. I am waiting for the snow to go so I can collect pond samples again.
