Diamond surface
Here is the surface of a diamond from Wyoming using epi-DIC. The field of view is approximately 1.1mm

Stunning! Is there a special name for the triangular structures visible in these photos and how did you produce the colors in the second image? This is all very, very interesting, a bit more detailed info on your epiDIC setup would be greatly appreciated as I'd like to invest in one.

These triangular structures are generally referred to as “trigons”.
