Peritrichida

Went to my favorite spot a couple of days ago to collect water samples and found these peritrichs to be very abundant. They formed very large colonies on the side and bottom of the sample containers. Not sure about the species.

Gorgeous! Really nice detail.

These are solitary vorticellids (spirally contractile stalk with sinusoidal myoneme). Identification to genus would require a very close look at the pellicle (preferably with silver stain).

Many thanks Bruce, Seb and KD. I did not use flash but a 100W halogen lamp.
