Wierd behaivor from unknown microorganism

#1 Post by cd13 » Sun May 03, 2020 5:30 am

Hi guys. Can somebody tell me what is this microorganism and what is it doing?
Sorry, I’m really new to the microscopic world and my biology is as good as what I learn in high school.
It looks like it is expulsing bubbles.

Sorry for the bad image, my microscope is a cheap Chinese one :|

Hmm you may want to open your substage Iris a bit it will increase your resolution and obscure the out of focus schmutz somewhat.

Also make sure your condenser is just below the slide - say a millimeter or two.

What objective did you use? It is a little small to see much detail. It seems to have a flagella.

Hi 75RR,
I used 10x eyepieces and 60x plan achromatic. The video is raw from my cellphone. I played around with the condenser and iris, but with my lack of knowledge this is the best I got.
Yes, it subject has a flagelo

HI I agree the organism is too small in the video - with a 63X objective you should be able to zoom in more. Also try hold your cell phone side ways, and if you would like to do more consider attaching a digital camera either a dedicated microscope camera eg. form AMscopes.com or get a phone holder on Amazon and zoom in.

Good luck

Thanks Rob. I used a 60x and used an adapter with my cellphone. I probably can get a better image, but I’m still working on my skills. I just bought(today) a set of filtef stoppers, so I’ll be playing around with them.
In thw following days, I’m looking to buy a cheap microscope camera from ebay.

Thanks for the advices!
