Inspired by recent Euglypha findings by 75RR I decided to explore a piece of moss I found in the park.
I did not find any Euglypha tests but I found this ciliate which seems very determined to stick its nose in a piece of decaying matter. It seems everywhere I look ciliates are there.

Nice! Really good image quality. It's a colpodean of some kind (Colpoda, Bresslaua, etc.).
Re: An inquisitive ciliate
Thanks for the ID Bruce! Colpodeans and Cyclidium species are very abundant almost anywhere I look.

Very cool...
I'm new here, sorry, but I've looked at a couple pictures here and i don't see any obvious tags like magnification or exif type information...is there an obvious place that this data is posted, or is it obvious to everyone but me?
And what are those small moving thingys (thingymus dohiggis) that are buzzing around the main subject?

Re: An inquisitive ciliate
Its up to individual posters to provide this info, EXIF data you could probably look up manually unless it was removed prior to uploading.
These are bacteria.
