I found a closterium (I think). I made a video in dark field, to be seen below. Last part of the video showes it being crushed and spilling its content. I wonder what moves inside of the alge. I read it could be brownian motion, but some particles really travel far.

Re: Closterium
Found some references to brownian motion on the internet and some simulations. The particles can really travel 'far' if lucky, meaning 'hit by molecules moving in about the same direction'.

Nice catch and darkfield.

Hi Jan,
that is a nice desmid you found there! They are also nice objects for Rheinberg illumination.

Re: Closterium
I have been thinking about that, but I don't have the Rheinberg filters yet. Is it also possible to get this type of illumination with a color filter on the field lens, below the condenser plus a dark field filter in the condenser filer tray? I have some color filters and I also have dark field filter.
