Grammatophora sp. (Tentative ID)

#1 Post by 75RR » Wed Jul 15, 2020 10:29 am

.
Zeiss Planapo 63x/1.4, DIC, 70µm length, stacked and stitched in Photoshop, Marine sample, Alboran Sea.

Came across this empty frustule which was unfortunately somewhat mucky, still being empty allowed a little more detail of the stria and pores to be captured. Converted to grey scale.

This is using direct projection via a raised eyepiece - still fine tuning.

Tentative ID of Grammatophora sp. is best guess at the moment.

Really, really nice. Probably the best I've seen with a raised normal eyepiece. How much of the visual field are you capturing?

Will have to get back to you on that as I have not measured it.

Yes, very impressive indeed! I can plainly see there wasn't anything easy about that image.

Thanks Sabatini and KurtM

Unfortunately what with having to put the microscope and tripod away after every session, half of most sessions consist in setting it all up again :)
