Red dot of light in pictures. How to get rid of it?
Red dot of light in pictures. How to get rid of it?
I'm having a bit of a problem that I get a red light in many of my pictures. I only see it trough my EOS D600 and it's a bit dependent on lighting and magnification how it looks. When I put an eyepiece in the phototube I don't see it and when I close the iris of camera adapter (NDPL-1) it also disappears.
Any ideas what the problem might be and how to solve it?

Hi,
that is a typical hotspot, generated by reflections. They can come from inner surfaces that are too reflective or from flat glass planes within the light path. Can you post a picture of your setup?

You mention in your previous thread that the image isn't par-focal with this photo adapter, and that it was only par-focal if you elevated it further (without eyepiece?). I'd suggest you try elevating it temporarily and see if the hot spot goes away.

Is it possible to turn off the camera indicator? Or he can glue it somehow so that the red light does not distort the photo.

I'm not using any indicators or red lights, so that can't be it, nor can it be seen if that was the case I think.
I tried positioning it higher, but even going as far as lifting it out and above of the phototube 5 cm from the bottom of the adapter still shows it.
Removing the adapter and aiming the bare sensor to it in live view shows it too.
Tried the normal eyepiece socket, same thing.
Maybe the problem is somewhere in the lighting. When I remove the diffusion filter in the lamp housing it goes from a round dot to a horizontal stripe and when I rotate the bulb, the red stripe turns with it.
I also aimed the camera at a piece of printer paper that was directly under a light. No red dot to be seen.
It's all a real head-scratcher.
I'll fiddle around with it some more tomorrow and maybe shoot some video.
