New camera

I was to buy a camera but I am being put off by the problem of compatibility with a MacBook Pro. The amscope, swift and omex cameras are made by the same people, right? They use the same software and although they say compatible with OS X you only get a cut down version of the software with that operating system. I definitely want to measure, ideally live-mushroom spores but I am very doubtful that I can do this. Maybe I should get a graticule and not bother with a camera. It seems strange there isn’t a solution to this problem. Looking to spend around 150 to £200.

You might want to look at [secondhand] Motic cameras Neil
... New prices are above your budget

Their software is excellent, and Mac friendly
... best of all, you can test it without purchasing anything
... the image processing and analysis features will work on existing images from your library.
