New to everything related to microscopy, what should I do?

#1 Post by Ydril » Mon Dec 21, 2020 5:46 pm

Hello guys!

I recently bought this microscope https://www.amazon.fr/gp/product/B07LGX ... UTF8&psc=1, and wanted to use the third eyepiece for my Ninkon 5500. So I bought without thinking this piece https://www.amazon.fr/gp/product/B011U8 ... UTF8&psc=1, but it wasn't the proper size...

How can I find a proper piece for my Nikon and my microscope?

Thanks

This is probably the easiest solution

Not sure if the swifts need eyepiece correcrions, if so they'll miss them with this setup. Either way it won't give 100% perfect results but it is fast, easy and should be at least OK. If you find you need better photos there are pther options but they're more involved and expensive. If this one doesn't work you can also likely resell it as it's a fairly popular adapter.

The piece you bought can probably work if it is not returnable. The small end is 1 1/4" o.d.( outside diameter). Usually the walls of those tubes are fairly thin. See if it fits over your trinocular tube. If so you can drill and tap the 1 1/4" end for 3 thumbscrews and attach it over your trinocular tube. It can then be moved up or down the tube to adjust for image circle size. I have made such a system on several microscopes and it works well.

I have a Swift 380 T and a Nikon D5500. I use an Amscope nikon adaptor. Would I recommend it? Well it is okay. I don't get the pin sharp images that i see through the microscope and it is difficult to adjust.I'm still playing and bare it mind it could be the operator!!!
