Photo background removal

#1 Post by Culicoides » Sun Oct 02, 2016 12:08 pm

A little while ago there was a thread about removal of backgrounds in photos. I have lost the reference; can anyone remember and/or post a link to this? Will it work with win7?
Many thanks, John

Normal procedure would be to use Photoshop. It can work with layers and you can mask off the background with the "select and mask" function.

Technique I use in PS is create a duplicate layer, blur it, then paint in the desired subjects with layer mask.

You probably mean this post viewtopic.php?p=32547#p32547, where mrsonchus mentioned 'Olympus Background Subtraction Tool'.

That is what I thought Culicoides was looking for, but I think that software is for evening out the illumination rather then removing the background (but again, I may well be wrong).
