I recently upgraded from a Canon 450D to a 700D, in part because I wanted to be able to capture video through the microscope. Last night I tried it for the first time. When I changed the switch to video recording I got this message on the screen "Ensure a lens is attached...". It would not let me record video unless I had a real lens attached.
Surely there must be some way to defeat this requirement. The camera to microscope adapter I'm using is this:

Do I need something fancier that fools the camera into thinking there is a lens? Or is there some setting in the camera that will override this blockage?
Hoping my upgraded was not (partly) in vain.

You may have better luck asking that question in the http://www.photomacrography.net/ forum.

Re: "Ensure a lens is attached"
For auto focusing, there are sensors on the lens which contact senors on the camera. I believe for movie shooting, the camera tries to focus via the auto focus and does not 'see' the sensor. I think you can get adapters with the sensors to fool the camera into thinking there is a lens there. The Photomacrography site will probably steer you in the right direction.

OK, I'll ask over there. Thanks.

I believe this is what you would need:

So I did get this problem worked out. It turns out you can start a video recording despite the warning. You have to push the "record" button twice. I did try this the other night but apparently having my camera hooked up to my tethering software was what was preventing the recording. All is good now.
