Automated stitching software

#1 Post by daruosha » Wed Apr 29, 2020 1:48 pm

Hi everybody.

Yesterday I was watching a demo by Olympus. In the demo, the software was able to show a live view footage of the the camera and automatically stitch images while the operator slides the stage.

I wondered is there a third party software with a similar capability for generic cameras? Or any other affordable camera bundled with the same feature?

This is the video in question:

Thanks for the suggestion, I knew ICE, but it doesn't support real time stitching from a live view stream.

That's an awfully impressive demo. I wonder how well the stacks would hold up to something done in Helicon or Zerene--my guess is they might be limited to lower resolutions, perhaps even using similar tricks to Hirox or Keyence macroscopes (I don't know if this is actually possible though as I think they have a very particular optical design to allow that).
Don't get me wrong, I want one.
Incidentally I wonder what the zoom ratio is on that module. Their site doesn't seem to say.
