AO illuminator 1036A/1031 Diaphragm Centering Spring
Looking for an AO illuminator 1036A/1031 Diaphragm Centering Spring. The 1036A unit that I have has one broken leg. See picture. If you have a parts unit, all I need is the spring. Let me know how much. Thanks in advance.

Re: AO illuminator 1036A/1031 Diaphragm Centering Spring
probably do. just have to find one that sits in a surplus illuminator. i can send it in an envelope but U.S. customs might be getting a bit snakey about concealed things in envelopes. the last item i sent south in an envelope, an AO slide carrier never arrived even though I had a customs declaration on it. i'm not used to that. i've been involved with thousands of small parcels crossing the border without incident. now i've lost 2 in 8 months.
maybe tracking is best after all.

Sounds like a lot of trouble. I've attempted to make "the other half" out of a piece of piano wire that seems to be working OK for now. If you want to attempt sending it in an envelope, could you let me know what you want for the spring and postage? Sounds like sending with tracking may not be worth the expense. Thank you for your response in any case!apochronaut wrote: ↑Wed Feb 14, 2024 1:50 amprobably do. just have to find one that sits in a surplus illuminator. i can send it in an envelope but U.S. customs might be getting a bit snakey about concealed things in envelopes. the last item i sent south in an envelope, an AO slide carrier never arrived even though I had a customs declaration on it. i'm not used to that. i've been involved with thousands of small parcels crossing the border without incident. now i've lost 2 in 8 months.

If you can put your hands on one of those old surface mount door latches, the ones about 4" square. Some of them had a double ended leaf spring that a cam lobe acted on to recoil the bevelled latch bolt, some a coil spring.
a tracked small box will be about 10-12.00, a padded envelope about 4-5. i don't want anything for it.

The tracking box sounds reasonable enough. Do you have a paypal account, or how would you like to get paid? Also, I am having trouble with the fine focus on one of the 10's; is there a particular set of instructions for taking the mechanism apart that you can direct me to? I have the exploded view of the mechanism; is there anything with step-by-step instructions (maintenance manual)? Thank you again for all your help.

I had sent the above in a private message but found it still in the Outbox. Please let me know how to proceed. Thank you.

Is this anything that you recognize coming out of series 10 microscope. This fell out of the unit I was having trouble with the fine focus and everything seems to be opreating perfectly now. I checked through the exploded view drawing the best I could and can't spot anything similar. Is it possible someone dropped in an extra part?
