Microtome Oil

#1 Post by rnabholz » Mon Dec 28, 2015 9:35 pm

Hoping someone can point me in the right direction.

AO recomends "Pike Oil" for their mechanical microtomes. It appears it was a brand name that seems to have disappeared.

Their manuals warn against using sewing machine or other light oils.

Does anybody know what the attributes of Pike Oil were or perhaps recommend a modern, still available substitute?

Thanks

Rod
