Comrade LOMO Multiscope
Here is my modest instrument:
Bought around ten years ago brand new from Optics Planet, when they still carried the LOMO line of microscopes. Although marketing in the USA of most new LOMO microscopes stopped around 2006 with a shift in power in Russia, the LOMO America web site still has the descriptions up of the full line here:
http://www.lomoamerica.com/microscopesFrames.html
Specifically, my microscope is the LOMO Multiscope BMH4-BF. I understand that in other parts of the world these scopes are also known as Biolam.
So far I use mostly the stock acromat objectives, but have lately gotten the urge to upgrade, so I'm on the lookout for some nice AOP's. Unfortunately, many of the APO's that have appeared on EBAY lately have had some degree of delamination or other issues.

That is nice. I do like non plastic instruments.
Ian and David Walker of microscopy-uk are big fans. see link:

Is this the one you converted to LED ?

Re: Comrade LOMO Multiscope
That is a good article, I have read it many times.
Yes, this is the one in which I have installed the LED conversion.
My main complaint about this scope is the fine focus wheel built into the base. I much prefer the standard coaxial focus controls used in most modern instruments.
The stand and frame are all cast aluminum, with a heavy lead weight in the base. This, and the relatively narrow base footprint, make it somewhat susceptible to vibration. I am looking for a steadier desk or table to put it on, have considered a slab of marble or granite for the tabletop to help with stabilization.

A very nice scope! Much more modern-looking that I had imagined.

Re: Comrade LOMO Multiscope
Thanks Gekko. It is a pretty good microscope, and works quite well for the price paid.
It's a shame that the whole line of instruments was discontinued, because several models were available, with lots of options and accessories. They were building a following in the USA. Back when I discovered that they were discontinued, I read that the factories in Russia were all being re-tooled to build something else, but I never found out what. Details were pretty sketchy at the time, I haven't looked it up lately. Fortunately these microscopes were built for many years, so lots of parts are available on the used market.

Bonjour
Cordialement seb

Re: Comrade LOMO Multiscope
Thank you Seb.
In a new development, this microscope should soon enjoy the company of an older cousin. Assuming that it survives the trip half way around the world, I'll post photos of the new acquisition in a new thread.

Re: Comrade LOMO Multiscope
Hello,
Can you tell me how have you reversed the stage? Mine has the controls on the front left like many others. I can't reverse it because the control interferes with the bracket and the holes are not in the same place. If you can, take a picture from the bottom.
Edit: Also if someone knows why the right part of the binocular is more yellow than the left? I disassembled the whole thing except the prisms inside, I still could see the right one is more yellow. Is this something I can fix and is it bad?
Thanks.

Sorry, I have not been online lately and just now saw your question.Kpm9c9VNwu wrote:Hello,

I bought this scope brand new when they were still being built, I had them build it this way because this is the way I was accustomed to using other scopes. It might be possible to change one around after the fact as everything comes apart quite easily. Used parts can be found on Ebay if one is willing to pay the price.
I would take photos for you if I could, however I used the stage off this scope to repair another scope for a friend and now have the circular polarizing stage on this scope which is rather different. If you could post some photos of your scope in a new thread, as Bill suggested, we might be able to help.
