Diatoms
Re: Diatoms
Excellent, particularly the first one.

Re: Diatoms
I concur. That first one is a beaut.
Re: Diatoms
Love 'em both! Those long pennate forms are super tough to get good images of, and here you manage it neatly. The other, Gomphonema (truncatum, I'm guessing), is seldom seen pictured in living form, attached to its stalk - again, nicely captured, one of my favorites!

Re: Diatoms
Nice Jim,
Your slides are so "clean". How do you do it? Do you kidnap it and place it on a fresh slide?

Great shots Jim!
Re: Diatoms
Thanks all.
Here is another image in a not so clean area of the slide
I try to find a specimen that is in a clean area of the slide and then I do some clean up in post processing.Your slides are so "clean". How do you do it? Do you kidnap it and place it on a fresh slide?

Re: Diatoms
Very nice. The first image is superb, with excellent clarity and sharpness.
Re: Diatoms
I'm digging all these images, but then, I'm pretty partial to diatoms. Last image shows an excellent and interesting grouping of forms - nice work, Jim!
