Members from the Houston area.

#1 Post by apochronaut » Tue Aug 29, 2017 11:08 am

Has anyone heard from a member from the Houston area? Fan and Kurt, I know for sure but there are others, I can't immediately recall. I can't see it not being pretty serious down there. Kurt posted on Monday and Fan was on-line on Monday.

Thank you, Phil.
I am safe and dry.
Kurt was fine as of Sunday afternoon. He had good preparation for everything at the time.
I wonder if Bill and Jim are fine.

Yep, doing alright here, fortunate to be in an area that is spared the worst of it. So far, that is, as it STILL ain't over, raining cats 'n' dogs outside even as I type.
Cheers,

Glad you all are safe and stay safe.

Wonder what all this mix of water does to the diatom population?

I was just watching the news here in Sweden. I hope all Houston members are safe and sound. Looks really bad...

Thanks for the thought, Fan. Yes, I am fine up where I am, about twenty five miles northwest of Houston city limits. Got lots and lots of rain, but thankfully no high winds or flooding. Also kept electrical power the whole time, which is a great help. I'm glad to hear that you and Kurt came through okay.

Regards,

Jim

Good to hear you are doing well, Jim. Sorry, among everything I forgot to email you when the hurricane came.

Bill emailed me right before the hurricane made land fall, but seemed to lose touch after that. I hope he was not affected.

Charles,

I don't know how the diatom population was affected, as I did not get a chance to check. I did go to check two beaches on either ends of Galveston island today, as my sons wanted to see if seashells were pushed/stired up by the hurricane. I found very little seashells, much less than a good winter season would produce.

Thanks to everyone for their kind concern.. We managed to survive this unscathed... My internet was down until today... We were lucky.. There was 55" of rain reported here, but we remained dry...

Best regards,
Billt
