Hello, fellow humans!
Hello all,I have been around various microscopy forums and facebook groups for a while, mostly facebook so some of you may know me. I have been finding facebook distracting and unhealthy recently so I have decided to register here instead. My name is Penny and I live in the UK, I have a collection of microscopes ancient and modern.
I am presently trying to culture some stentor in boiled pond water- I shall see how it goes.
I attach a picture of a stentor which I took yesterday for fun.

Welcome, Penny! Impressive collection of old microscopes. Looked for the modern but did not find them...

Re: Hello, fellow humans!
Ah, well by modern I mean not brass. Cooke, Vickers. Nikon S etc. I have lot of 1950s to 1970s microscopes. I think my most modern microscope is a Leica DM which I rescued from a skip. It is in perfect working order but I hardly ever use it because it's too large for my bench which is taken up by my beautiful Vickers M4000 and Gladys. I take most of my photos on my Zeiss Universal, aka Gladys.

Welcome fellow human! I enjoyed your postings in forum: Microscope...but , sigh, yahoo became too demanding of user ID/ user info...sigh..in the thick of all the hacks of requested personal info...sigh.
Thanks for a great Stentor image, Penny...due I detect a hint of blue-green coloration in your imaged guest ( as for Stentor coruelius species (?sp?)?
I am glad you give a kind greeting to all in this great microscopy forum. Welcomr, Penny! Charlie Guevara, finger lakes/US

Re: Hello, fellow humans!
Hi Charlie! I remember you. The yahoo groups did become a little tedious, I still get two thousand or so emails a day from Yahoo despite repeatedly unsubscribing. They have their own special spam folder.
Yes, Stentor coeruleus. Very pretty. I shall take more pictures and edit them a wee bit later on.

Hi Penny, I was desertrat2170 over there at Yahoo. I still look at postings over there, but don't post anything there anymore.
Strange, Yahoo never demanded much personal information from me, and I don't get any emails from them. I wonder what I did or didn't do?
Then again, some of the personal information I gave them when I set up my account there wasn't.....accurate. Shame on me!
