I am not sure either which is why I hid behind the Sub-class Peritrich.

Vorticella is a well known Genus of this Sub-class but I am not sure if it is one.

It does however have a contractile stalk. It is also showing an extra set of cilia at the base, which could indicate it is about to cast off and become a telotroch (free swimming stage)

The cilia at the base were moving while I was setting up the shot - but stopped just as I began. Most probably pinned as I work with very little water.

The other possibility is that I assumed it was contractible - can't say with certainty that I recall seeing this one contract ...
