Greetings from the North of the UK

HI all

Just introducing myself. I'm a Visual Artist based in the UK with a strong interest in environment and natural history. I use mainly stereo microscopes for entomology with a focus on hymenoptera and coleoptera but a general interest in invertebrates. Currently creating a guide to bees and wasps at my local reserve and working with RSPB and CeH to monitor pollinators and engage the public with our overlooked Natural History.
Some of my creative work is viewable at http://www.arbarus.co.uk

cheers

Hi arbarus, welcome.

Nice to see photos of your work. Did feel that the size you present them at was a little limiting. Wanted to peek into the cabinets!

Hi Richard,
welcome to the forum!
The image with the flying dog is great! It reminded me very much of a trip from Sunderland up once around Scotland where we saw these black-white dogs jumping over fences all the time.

HI Microbob & 75RR

A lot of the work was about 'In Passing Unnoticed' so an attempt to encourage folk to look closer so pleased the cabinets inspire peeking! I did include an old Olympus SZ and a few specimens in the exhibition which interestingly young people innately seemed to know how to use. Documenting 3D / sculptural work photographically is a challenge and can only represent the work to a very limited extent so never happy with it's online presence (just gotta have it).

That flying dog doesn't do so much flying these days as he is (like the rest of us) getting older, much like me he now spends his time looking at the smaller things whilst out and about.

cheers

Richard

Hi einman

I'm not great on ant ID (a science or an art?) but will be recording locally this year so hoping to get my eye in, they are especially fascinating...

cheers

Richard
