What is your microscopy history? What are your interests? What equipment do you use?

Hi from East Anglia (UK)

#1 Post by Dave S » Thu May 23, 2019 10:50 am

Hi, I am a keen amateur photographer (https://davesimaging.wixsite.com/mysite), with a particular interest in wildlife, including Macro, and am looking to extend this to photo microscopy. Although my photography gear is all 'high end spec', at this stage I am not looking to spend 'big money' on a microscope in case I don't take to it. I am currently looking at the multitude of Chinese microscopes, marketed under different brand names, with many likely emanating from the same factory. I look forward to eventually being able to contribute to the forum.

Hi Dave S

As another relative newcomer to the forum I can assure you you have made a good choice to join. A very knowledgeable, helpful and friendly bunch of people. And the forum has a vast store of information from past posts so, if you're inclined, there is lots to read and a great opportunity to learn.

Cheers
Tom

Welcome to the forum. Bresser also distribute very good microscopes, its a shame you don't live in Germany they have an open day the second Tuesday of every month where you can go and 'try out' the microscopes. they also have a UK distribution network you could ring and ask if they do a similar thing.

Thank you.

Bresser also make budget telescopes, and have been around for many years. I could be wrong but I believe there is a 'tie up' between them and Celestron.

This looks like many of the other budget end microscopes, and is almost certainly of Chinese origin, but then other than the premium brands, they all are. Just have different badge.

That said, the importers may exercise a degree of quality control.
