Zeiss Standard 14 Phase Contrast
Zeiss inverted Phase Contrast
I’ve seen the name Opton associated with this stand, but I thought that was for the camera lenses.

I’ve only seen pictures and they were of a standard 16 with the rheostat on the base.Hobbyst46 wrote:Impressive and nice.
I have seen the very wide stage on the Standard 16 (or 18?) on the left in a Zeiss Brochure from that era. Is it advantageous in use ?
I got this one from St. Louis university medical school, and aside from some scratches it is just about perfect. I also have the shutter and 35 mm camera gear.MicroBob wrote:Hi Radazz,
nice collection!
Is your big stage really flat and in good condition?
I have one similar to this and it is deeply washed out and in additon of concave shape.![]()

I heard (don't remember where) that it had something to do with the extra large slides used by vets to count parasites.MicroBob wrote:I read that the idea behind the design based on geometric forms was to make it easier to machine the moulds and after the casting machine the casted parts. No idea whether this was true but it would make sense.
