Hello from Mansfield UK
Hi everyone just started this hobby total newbie to it all. My main hobby is Astro photography but with the uk weather need another one. Just bought an Amscope T490b very impressed with it even though it’s Chinese made. Looking to expand into the crystal and polarising side of the hobby
Re: Hello from Mansfield UK
Hi Mark, and welcome, from another relative newcomer to the hobby. Also a one time, a serious astro-imager, which sadly I had to give up (https://davesimaging.wixsite.com/mysite)
BTW, don't be put off by the fact that there are only a handful of members here, that will bother to say hello.

Hello Mark and welcome to the forum. I just joined last week, so newbie here too. The T490 looks like a great scope. I'm looking at Amscope (T720) as well.
I'm one post below yours at the moment (Beerbatter).
Cheers,

Hi Mark, & welcome to this fine forum. I'm in Cumbria U.K. myself.
I looked-up the Amscope T490b and it looks like a good 'scope to start with. A pretty sturdy and ready-to-go 'scope as far as I can tell - congratulations!

Welcome to the microscopic world Mark.
If you need help getting started making crystal slides, or getting polarising material for your microscope, just PM me. The variety that different chemicals give is amazing, and no two slides you make are the same. It is one of my favourite pastimes for a wet stormy November day!

Welcome, Mark. Here in fingerlakes/US we have the 'cloud machines' of Lake Ontario, and often our dear finger lakes, so bench microscopy a joy.
I did have my China "Sky Watcher 6"/f5 achro out two nights last week for M45 and the jewels within M37. Gossamer whisps between some of the sisters at 38mm Orion Q70, and eye candy within M37 with my 13mm Orion Stratus, relaxed sky sweeps with the 28mm ocular.
Welcome to a terrific forum, Mark, Charlie guevara

It seems folks that like microscopes like telescopes too, and vise-versa. I have a Coulter Odyssey 10" Dobsonian that I have enjoyed very much.
