Re: Early patents related to phase contrast
Hi Phil,
in the first American Optical patent names several patents from 1907 onwards. It would be interesting to research how much invention Zernike actually did.

Re: Early patents related to phase contrast
Sorry, Kurt ... I don’t see the problem
I would be happy to comply with your request if I knew what was wrong.
Zernike was a man
Patents are a claim of novelty of invention
Phase Contrast is a technique
We are building a list.

Re: Early patents related to phase contrast
It all started with this thread: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=8158 in which a consensus was reached that DIC did not make Phase obsolete.
then another thread based on a link to an illumination technique called Relief Phase posted in the first thread was started: viewtopic.php?f=28&p=71653#p71596
This thread was a little ragged, with members speculating on whether Zernike dressed to the left or the right and in what year Phase was commercially available; turns out it was 1941.
lastly this thread with links to Phase patents was subsequently posted.

Thanks, 75 - that's perfect.
MichaelG., sorry I was less than clear, but 75RR got us covered so all is well. Thanks again, amigo.
