Hello all, greetings from southwest England

I have been reading your very interesting forum for awhile now and thought it was time I signed up and said thank you for all that I am learning (and to warn you that I may have quite a lot of questions soon !)

A lot of other hobbies, (and real life!) have got in the way of me doing anything serious so far, except reading and dreaming "one day"

Recently however I came upon lots of sites describing laser lens and phone contraptions (sorry, yes, them !) and curiosity got the better of me.
I gave it a try.
I was amazed,
at what could be seen of tics (barbs on the mouth bits) and fruitflies (hairs on legs), which at only about 1mm were themselves not easy to see unaided with my aged eyes.
So here I am, making slides with Fructose and PVA (Larry Legg and Walter Dioni) and generally having fun with little lenses and wee beasties

I am now trying to source an adapter to carry a 4x or 10x objective on my (ex 1960's) M42 bellows and my recently acquired Canon 60D.

welcome to the forum!
For you bellows project you should make sure to buy the right objective for this application: Many 160/170mm objectives have residual colour errors that are corrected in the eyepiece. When you leave the eyepiece out, you get colour fringing. This topic is widely discussed in the forum 75RR has linked.

The RMS to M42 adapter arrived but turned out to be mis-described and is not an RMS
I had done a lot of viewing in ebay trying to get the right one between M42x1mm and 42mm(T2?)x0.75mm outer threads, but didnt know there was going to be a problem with identifying the types of inner aperture. This one turns out to be about 26mm instead of 0.79in/20.3mm !
But the vendor has invited me to send it back for a refund, so that should be ok.

Thanks for the alert about residual colours. I had learned that infinite objectives needed a tube/relay/camera lens for optimum results, so I will now have to research the non-eyepiece types, not found that on the photom. site yet.
That all sounds like it may be best to do afocal with my 60D on a microscope then ?

OK, I use an ancient set of bellows also. Mine are Ihagee from Germany.
I have the Ihagee/M42 adapter as well as the M42/RMS. Everything fits fine.
I use the Zeiss Luminar objectives. They have an adjustable diaphragm; I believe they were designed for applications such as this.
Here's a picture of the set-up on an old Leica stand, and a photo of some mouse teeth taken with this.

A nice looking lens, thanks for showing. I may have to work up to that.

I still have two enlargers. from my film days, in the attic* and had thought they might be suitable as a support.
I would of course have to contrive some sort of fine focus mechanism. I wonder if a helicoid mount, either on the belows or on the base might be suitable.
Lots yet to be experimented with when the replacement RMS adapter arrives (from China this time since the UK vendor failed me), y'all keep your fingers xxed for me

I have read-up on the forum about posting photos, and am now looking at Imgur to see how it performs,

so here for good measure is a 100% crop of the ff eye
(this time as a png to avoid further degrading from the jpg given by the tablet)
