Zeiss ocular projective

#1 Post by Piter_ » Fri Jan 03, 2020 3:44 pm

Hi.
I have came across this ocular. Any idea then to use it?
It is over 10 cm long, not sure it will fit in my trinocular head.
Thanks.

With a focal length of 100mm ... I would guess it’s for classroom or theatre screen projection.

Older eyepieces, in a similar fashion to telescope eyepieces were marked by the focal length, rather than the magnification. 1/2", 1" etc. or 12mm, 25mm etc. A 100mm focal length is about 4", so should come out to 2 to 3X, or so, depending on the actual design. It is probably a huygens or modified huygens type. Low mag. huygens types would be excessively long. I think, a simple photo eyepiece.

I imagine that it is similar to the Micpro:

Thanks for page 81

Table 34 would appear to support my hypothesis:
Recommended projection distance = 10m
