Wonderful link, thanks 75RR. Fig.4 depicts oil-inclusions in perhaps 29 diatom species...for me this eye-candy! Anecdotaly...I never had specific desire to pursue the matter: in my fingerlakes/US local...abundant oil-inclusion vesicles are a strongly 'winter season manefestation' I obsrve in winter collected water samples.
