Very nice photo, 75RR ! better than the one I found on the internet (Florida Coastal Everlades site).
Is a greater number of single images required for girdle view than for valve view ? given this type of diatom that in valve view is elongated and symmetrically pointed ?

Thanks Hobbyst46,
Unfortunately neither of these events happened - would have made a nice set.
It also depends on its position on the slide (they rarely lie perfectly horizontal) and are of course three-dimensional. In this case there were 37 images in the stack.
I suppose it depends on each diatom - in this case I would need it to roll over or have a similar sized one showing the other face on the same slide. Is a greater number of single images required for girdle view than for valve view ? given this type of diatom that in valve view is elongated and symmetrically pointed ?

Curiously, there are surprisingly few images of the girdle view of Trachyneis aspera on the web.

Another beaut 75RR... very nicely done.
Changing the topic slightly, can you tell us about your little fly logo? I have this strong feeling I've seen it before somewhere, possibly in connection with a mathematical problem, but that might just be my geriatric mind wandering!

Don't know what else they may have been used for but in this case they form a play on my surname.
Before it was anglicized, it used to be pronounced with two syllables

Ahhhh... thank you 75RR. Of course they are bees, now that I look at them more closely They still seem familiar, but I'll just put that down to my continuing decline into senility.
