Zeiss DIC parts (Slider holders)

#1 Post by 75RR » Wed Apr 15, 2020 6:48 pm

Came across this - might interest those with a Zeiss who are thinking of putting a DIC system together.

It fits the Universal, I think.

The nosepiece is from a Universal/Photomicroscope but the slider holders can be taken off and put on a Standard or WL

I thought they are stuck to the nosepiece. Factory aligned and glued in place.

They are, but can be removed with acetone.

Seller is also selling a DIC condenser, though there appears to be delamination in at least one of the prisms.

There is an immersion oil hack of fixing delaminated DIC condenser prisms.

How does that work? I imagine it is temporary.

In a nutshell you dip the prism in immersion oil which crawls inside the gap separating the two quartz wedges.

According to the author it is quite a durable hack that last for quite a while.
