Hi guys,
What do you guys use to cover your microscope when not in use to avoid dust? I have seen some “dust proof” covers made from flanner cotton (mostly used for handbag storage) but I’m no sure if that works.
Your input is appreciated.
Thanks!

Re: Microscope Dust Cover
I know some people are going to refuse to talk to me after this but..... I use old shopping bags. They look pretty bad, but they work and if it tears, I just grab another one. I have considered making some covers, but I haven't gotten around to it yet.
Re: Microscope Dust Cover
I've used plastic bags to nylon bags. They say plastic bags could be bad, especially in humid climates because it holds moisture i. nSomething like this is probably optimal. Although it says it's plastic, it's probably rip-stop nylon used in parachutes. I got a few and like them. https://www.ebay.com/itm/HEAVY-DUTY-Mic ... 1438.l2649

Re: Microscope Dust Cover
Zeiss sells their dust covers for very acceptable prices.
I use a PVC cover over my Phomi (was included) and tightly woven cotton covers over the other microscopes. For two I have just a cotton shopping bag. On microscopes that live in a cupboard I mostly have no cover though it would be better.

Ok. So looks like the cotton bags will serve for the purpose
