Hello from Portsmouth Virginia!

Hello from Portsmouth Virginia!

I’m an amateur photographer and dabble some in astronomy, and just became interested in the amazing world viewed through microscopes.

I’m just watching YouTube videos and reading forum posts for now. With my background with photography I’m sure I’ll want to get a trinocular microscope.

I know folks recommend getting an older well established scope, but I’ve seen a listing for a lightly used Amscope T490B, with Amscope MU300 3.0MP microscope Digital Camera.
Amscope PS100A Prepared Microscope Slide Set for $220. Waiting for the seller to get back to me.

If you are a photographer, I suspect the 3mp camera will leave you unimpressed.

Yeah, I’m sure to adapt my mirror less cameras. :-)

Well the 3MP USB Microscope camera was better than expected. USB 2.0 transfer speed made focusing difficult. These shots of sample slides were not bad to start with.

I see that your microscope arrived! Hope you are finding microscopy as fun as you had hoped.

There should be a blue filter among the items that came with your microscope - it should help with the yellow cast you are getting.

+ Here is a link to a useful booklet you may not have come across: http://www.microscopy-uk.org.uk/index.h ... /intro.htm

you may also want to look through the Resources (online, books etc.) section.

lots of useful info there, though in no particular order, so probably best to think of it as an Attic and rummage away!

Thank you! I found the blue filter, and watched some of the Pippa videos. Lots to learn! :-)

Slides arrived and had my first view of pond life.

These things were fast and had wicked appendages. I found this one dormant.

Welcome Rick, We're almost neighbors. I'm in Chesapeake near Deep Creek and Grassfield.

The first one looks like an ostracod. The pickle shaped things are diatoms.
