What Is This:
What Is This:
Was thinking something in the order of trachelophyllum tachyblastum. Single shot picture taken at 200x magnification with a little camera zoom. Microscope bottom light. Sample collected from my pond.

Re: What Is This:
Looks like I could have used a little more light, but this photo shows the other end better.

Re: What Is This:
I've never seen something this "hairy". However, very good, clear images. I hope someone will identify it.
Re: What Is This:
Thanks gekko, does ok sometimes with the old technology I have, 50-117 year old scopes and one home made eyepiece that I use most of the time now. I want never win any photo awards but presentation of interesting creatures is my enjoyment.

Re: What Is This:
With a dried up crappy slide now, last photo from same slide of what looks like a feather close to center. No idea what this is, magnification 200x or a little over.

Re: What Is This:
A scale from the wing of a butterfly or moth, I believe.
Re: What Is This:
Bonjour a tous.
Pour les deux premières photos il peux s'agir de reste insectes.
Et la dernière photo comme Gekko il s'agit d'une écaille de papillon.
En tout cas les photos sont clair et nette.
Bravo pour travail.
Cordialement seb

Re: What Is This:
Yes, I quite a agree with them. I think this might be part of the wing of butterfly or something.
Have you get a conclusion?

Re: What Is This:
This is a shot in the dark, but it appears to be the palpi of a fly (or some other insect). Check out this image of the mouthparts of Musca domestica (common housefly) and notice the dark-brown, laterally-projecting structures located in the middile of the image:Rodney wrote:Was thinking something in the order of trachelophyllum tachyblastum.
