Water mite

#1 Post by Saul » Tue Jul 14, 2020 3:59 am

Unexpected colorful result, playing with different lighting setups - mainly polarized Rheinberg, DF/BF, some extra stuff.
Sony A6300, 143 photos, Nikon Microphot with AO modified condenser, lucite Rheinberg filters (ebay, optitec2020), LED/flash illuminator, variable sliding oblique filter in the base of the condenser and rotatable filter . Stacking is done with PS (I'm big Zerene fan, but somehow for me with the transparent objects PS works better), 130mm TL, no name 10x objective (looks like infinity Nikon 10x BD)
Sorry for the few weeks old sample, used concave slide with Klein Tools wire lubricant to calm down the mite, still not the worst shape for tests ...

Striking image!

Had to look up Klein Tools wire lubricant :) I take it you had it to hand?

Stereo of the same mite (somehow sample "exploded" during the night) , done with the DF adapter for whole slide imaging

I love this solution. I wish I had your skills. I just use a mounted flashlight to do a rough approximation to this.
