Thanks Pete, I sent off for one of these this evening, may take a while but at that price it's worth a look - if it's a little big I may be able to take it down very slightly.... Ideally I'd like a couple of the Nikon ones but so far nothing's out-there. They're exactly 3½" diameter.

Some other options, John, if not a fit:

- Clear or white acrylic. Won't break if dropped. Last longer than you might expect. You can mark, drill, engrave, or machine them to make special holders (say to hold a slide). Cheap: https://www.ebay.com/itm/25-ACRYLIC-CIR ... SwnipWZy23

- Clear glass coasters. Ideally tempered ones. I've bought them in 4" for some scopes - not sure they make them as small as 3.5"

- Could open up the recess a bit if need be - and you imagine wanting lots of 90mm stage plates in the future. 20 minute job (only a couple minutes of it cutting) if someone with a milling machine and boring head owes you a favor. You'd need to detach the base first.

I tried that it makes the light a little green.

I think my best-bet is to grind 2mm from the diameter of the ones I have spare, formerly used on my Amscope.... Worth a try. Meanwhile simply placing the Amscope one over the recess is working very well apart from the fact that it sits of course proud of the table surrounding it.
Beneath the recess I've fitted the LED plate and diffuser also formerly fitted to the now sold-on Amscope stand. Perfect diffused transmitted light apart from the dratted glass plate at this time, but I'll soon have this fixed. Meanwhile keep your eyes open for me chaps and thanks for the help you're giving me, always appreciated.

Ultimately I'll be acquiring a stand with coarse and fine focus and of course fitted glass plate - but that'll have to wait as they're not commonly seen used and/or affordable right now either.... Onward-ho, so nice to be able to actually take decent images and/or video spontaneously while using the stereo 'scope - really handy indeed for my Botanical use. A luxury that I'm very grateful to have is the SMZ800 - any extras will certainly be a bonus, but patience is a virtue (and kinder on on'es wallet!)

I ordered the same eBay set a few months ago for my Olympus SZ, it took some time to arrive, pretty pleased with them.

Would it be possible to post an image of them? They sound interesting...

A picture will have to wait until next weekend.

And I still have not figured how to publish a picture when using an iPad

Most of mine are published from the iPad ... Just go to the Attachments tab, and then select a [suitably small] image from ‘Photos’
If you need to crop, resize, change file-type, etc. I can recommend the CropSize App

https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/cropsize- ... d742846888

Happy to talk you through the process, if you have any difficulty.
