I and have a problem in identifying what the small nobbles in the Centre Area, also what are they called and is there any function involved.

Hello- Nice shots! Have you tried googling the anatomical structure/morphology of Diatoms? There are quite few designs!

Hi einman,

I have searched through that excellent diatom site but came away still none the wiser. I have now been in touch with Sarah Spaulding to see if she can shed any light on the subject.


I think nobbles should read nodules.
