Most stereos have at most minor correctiona done in the eyepieces, so that part of compatibility is less important. In adapting a Nikon labiphit head to a BH2 Olympus body the Nikon head actually needed to sit higher than the bottom of the olympus dovetail to keep the focus position in the eyepieces about the same, so the extra space of a mechanical adapter was actually helpful.

If you want to focus stack just be aware the image will move horizontally as you focus in, that's just as it should be. If dual viewing for video is the goal there are double photo attachments available for some stereo microscopes, including the Nikon SMZ line and the Wild/Leica m series (the latter being surgical beamsplitters). That would probably be the most convenient method for video, though not the cheapest.

I have mixed feelings about the synthetic stereos. Sometimes they're great but thry really son't give the same effect as looking through a real stereo microscope does. If Jena corrections are similar to Zeiss west objectives missing the eyepiece is likely to cause some noticeable trouble, though if you only capture the very center of the field of view it may matter less.

Low strain glass only matters to polarized light, so unpolarized light doesn't really care either way. It should be fine in that respect.

The amount of work to properly fix such a lens would probably be similar in cost to buying a new one.

To me the improvement in color correction looks pretty dramatic, and definitely makes for much nicer photos. I suppose that suggests the swift system is neither non-correcting or at least weakly correcting, at least on CA.

This is a typical problem. These cameras have extremely tiny sensors, and even with a 0.5x reduction lens you get an enormous crop factor. If you don't have a 0.5x adapter it will improve things dramatically, to the point that it's usable (though perhaps annoying).
